The aircrew thermographer course helps you maximize the ability of your law enforcement helicopter, thermal imager, and searchlight.

Students will be instructed on topics such as law enforcement crew resource management, aviation safety, infrared technology, suspect apprehension, aircraft positioning, vehicle pursuits, and many other applicable airborne law enforcement topics. This is the ONLY course of its kind worldwide.

Monday, Oct 2 - Tuesday, Oct 3 | Side Show / Street Racing Enforcement (2 Day)

This course is designed to provide instruction to prevent and deter illegal sideshows. Instruction covers every facet of Sideshow Enforcement including the Dangers of sideshows, their evolution to what they have become today, tactics and failed tactics previously attempted, Officer Safety in enforcement, proven tactics in shutting down and deterring sideshows, legal implications, and establishing local ordinances and prosecution of arrests and citations.

Sideshow Enforcement is recommended for current airborne law enforcement Officers and units, patrol officers, commanders, and special operations personnel that may be tasked with enforcement at sideshow events.

Scalpels and scenarios, paired with step-by-step videos and instructor-guided dissections, allow attendees to experience an unforgettable view of medical & traumatic cardiac pulmonary emergencies with a special pediatric focus. Attendees will do even more procedures during this 4-hour hands-on dissection lab that was developed to help review and reinforce the essentials of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy, "from the inside out!"

Note: Emergency skills will be practiced on harvested pig organs. NO animals were euthanized for the purpose of this course.

1:30 - 4:30 PM | Training for Tragedy: Helicopter Emergency Accident Training for First Responders

Carilion Clinic Life-Guard developed a new training program geared toward first responders that will help the flight crew in the case of an aircraft emergency. First responders have always been close partners with the flight crew in safety, but they often lack hands-on training with aircraft-related emergencies and how to assist the flight crew in the event of a crash. Thus, HEAT training was born. HEAT stands for Helicopter Emergency Accident Training. This workshop will cover the background and logistics of setting up this kind of training and will also take attendees through the practical set up including creating a smoke-filled aircraft and performing rapid crew extrication for high-fidelity training. The presenters will also be available post-conference via email/TEAMS/Zoom/etc. to support attendees in establishing their own HEAT program at their agency. Please note, this workshop will focus on the EC-135 airframe but it can easily be altered to apply to any airframe.
